The Barcelona armchair The Barcelona armchair, together with the Barcelona stool and the Barcelona sofas, form an elegant and at the same time modern furniture series for private and public spaces. Ancient models, at that time still made of wood, provided the inspiration for the scissor-shaped construction of the base made of polished steel strip. The most characteristic feature of the series, however, are the upholstered seat covers, which have an elegant classic quilting. These cushions are carried by leather straps on the steel frame on both the seat and the back. In 1929 the Barcelona series was designed for the German pavilion as part of the world exhibition in Barcelona. The chic seating furniture of the Barcelona series established itself as popular furnishings immediately after the exhibition.
